January 18, 1935 – October 23, 2025
Jerry Lee Barrowman of Bethany, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 23, 2025. He was born on January 18, 1935, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to Walter and Ruth Barrowman.
Throughout his life, Jerry worked a variety of jobs—from pumping gas at a local service station to working as an oilfield roughneck, driving big rigs, turning wrenches as a mechanic, and eventually serving as a custodian and groundskeeper for Putnam City Schools.
He met the love of his life, Carolyn, at a corner café in Holdenville. They married in the late summer of 1961 and made their home in Bethany, Oklahoma. Together, they raised three children and were active members of the local Church of God.
Jerry loved spending time with his family and enjoyed camping, swimming, and showing off his champion swan dive. He had a lifelong passion for classic cars and motorcycles. In his younger years, he was an accomplished athlete, playing basketball and excelling as a bowler. He was also a devoted fan of Superman movies and the Oklahoma Sooners.
Though he couldn’t carry a tune, Jerry had a deep love for Elvis music and was a brilliant whistler—often filling the room with melody in his own unique way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruth Barrowman; his brothers, Larry and Eddie Barrowman; and his sisters, Mary Russell, JoAnn McGhee, and Paula McCoy.
