

On March 29, 1922, in Chickasha, Okla., Juanita was born to Sherman and Alberta (Sikes) Phariss and was sister to siblings Albert, Orville, Johnny, Lucille, Lloyd (lone surviving sibling) and Norma Jean.
She was wife to Russell M. Owens and mother to Russell, Jr. (and wife, Judy) and Phil (and wife, Peggy) Owens. She was grandmother to Phillip, Shaye, Todd, Paige and David, who are convinced she was the best grandma in the world. She was great-grandmother to a growing number of little ones – Gabriella, Aaron, Catarino, Chelsey, Brandy and the newest one, Bennett—from whom she secured frequent visits from the older ones with rewards of cookies and kisses. She was loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law to Roy Owens, her husband’s lone surviving brother. Juanita spent her life devoted to her family. She died late Christmas Eve, 2010, guaranteeing her family fond memories of her each Christmas to come. She graduated with the Class of 1940 at Capitol Hill High School and married in 1943. She was a retired state employee and a Licensed Practical Nurse. She belonged to ROSES, LaPetite book club and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. Graveside services will be Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N. Kelley Ave. in Oklahoma City. A reception will follow the interment at the church, 13112 N Rockwell Avenue, Oklahoma City. Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army – senior program at the Warr Acres Community Center.
