Judith Gail Wooden of Piedmont, died on Monday, July 15, 2019 peacefully at her lake home in Hinton. She was born in Oklahoma City on June 14, 1940 to Earl Cecil and Nellie Elaine Cecil, and was later raised by Claude La’Dell McPherson and Nellie Elaine McPherson. She married her high school sweetheart, Jay Wooden, on June 25, 1959. They resided in Oklahoma City until 1974 where together they owned DJ’s Bait and Tackle on Overholser Drive. In 1975, they then moved to Piedmont, where they built a welcoming home. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary where they vowed to love each other and cherish each other for many more. Judith was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family more than anything in the world. She loved entertaining guests, cooking (especially sweets), and OU football as well as hitting the casino when she could. She is survived by her husband of the home, Jay Wooden; three children, Kimberly Lowder and husband Bruce with three sons, Jeremy, Eric and wife Morgan, and Brice; Tammie Huff and husband Chuck with two sons, Christopher and wife Suzette and Nicholas and son Allen Wooden. She also had three great grandsons that she loved dearly, Sterling, Trenton, and Liam. Extended family included brother, Dewey McPherson and wife Candy, cousin Darrel J. Henthorn, and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday, July 20th at 1:30 PM located at Guardian West Funeral Home, 41st and McArthur, Warr Acres, OK 73122. Pot luck will be offered immediately following the service at Hampton Inn and Suites, 3022 NW Expressway, OKC, OK 73112 for fellowship and the celebration of Judy’s life.
