Katie Rose Shaw, age 30, passed away quietly in her sleep and awoke Christmas morning in her Savior's arms. She was born August 24, 1994 in Oklahoma City to Kevin and Denise (Denny) Shaw. Katie began playing the violin in 4th grade and was very accomplished. She attended Putnam City High School where she was on the Pom Team and graduated in 2012. Katie was a warrior, having battled various forms of illness. She was full of life and had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. She could be very opinionated but loved people, and they loved her right back. Katie enjoyed writing, playing the violin and guitar, and had a beautiful singing voice. She enjoyed going on vacations with her family, most recently a cruise where she got to meet one of her spirit animals, the sloth.

She is survived by her parents, Kevin and Denny Shaw; her best friend and soulmate, Travis Penrose; half-brother, Joe Dahl; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Visitation with the family will be 5pm-8pm Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
A celebration of Katie’s life will be 10am Monday, December 30, 2024 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service with interment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
