Keith Trueblood Hallowell, 81, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012 in his home in Bethany, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family. He was born July 11, 1931, in Burlington, Iowa, to Herman and Lois Hallowell.
He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1950. On January 1, 1956, he married Vesta Mae Stansbury of Farmington, Iowa. They lived on the family farm in Mt. Pleasant where Keith farmed with his dad. They milked cows, raised hogs and chickens, and grew corn, soybeans, and timothy hay. While in Iowa, he was an active member of Cedar Creek Friends Church and Salem Friends Church. His family came from generations of Quakers.
In 1977 Keith and the family moved from Iowa to Roswell, New Mexico. There he farmed cotton and alfalfa hay. He was an active member of the Roswell First Church of the Nazarene.
Keith and Vesta moved back to Iowa from 1990 - 2001, then retired to Bethany, OK. They have attended Lake Overholser Church of the Nazarene and Council Road Baptist Church. They were active at the Robertson Activity Center in Yukon, Oklahoma.
Keith is survived by his wife of 56 years, Vesta. Their four children are Jay (Amor) Hallowell of Manila, Philippines, Judy (Ed) Roberts of Overland Park, KS, Joyce (Dennis) Williams of Bethany, OK, and Jolene (Dudley) Holloman of Edmond, OK. Their grandchildren are Nathan Roberts attending KU School of Medicine, Jeremy Roberts studying abroad at Czech Tech in Prague, Grace Williams attending Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Paige Holloman attending University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Asher Holloman, a Senior at Deer Creek High School, Maggie Williams, a senior at Bethany High School, Harper Holloman, a freshman at Deer Creek High School, and Abby Williams, an eighth grader at Bethany Middle School. Keith was a loving father and grandfather.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 16 from 3:00 - 6:00 at Bill Merritt Funeral Services in Bethany, Ok. The celebration of his life will be Monday, September 17 at 10:00 a.m at Bill Merritt Funeral Services.
