SOME WILL SAY HE WENT OUT WITH A BANG…SINCE HE LEFT THIS EARTH ON THE 4TH OF JULY. Kenneth Eugene Sterbenz was born in Oklahoma City on November 5th, 1947. He attended Putnam City schools, graduating in 1966, then attended Central State College. Early in 1967 he joined the U.S. Army Reserves and we married later that year. We had a daughter, René, who challenged him occasionally, allowed him to see life in a different way, and has said he is the best dad she could ever ask for.
Kenny had various jobs in his adult years where he made some lifelong friendships. He loved NASCAR and all other types of racing and often enjoyed going fishing and hunting with friends. After his retirement from Klein Tools we took fishing trips, had backyard barbeques, lake parties, and took some long awaited vacations. He always enjoyed being with friends at Lake Texoma, often saying there was nowhere he would rather be. Toward the end of his life, he was anxious to tell all of his friends to just enjoy life and have fun. He was my soulmate and inspiration – my rock. He was a good man, a great dad and always there for us. I loved him because he was a strong man who “knew stuff”; not a spiritual person necessarily but he had good morals and showed good judgement. I loved him for his character and funny side. He was a mentor to some and didn’t even realize it. Kenny will be missed by many friends and family but most of all by me. I would like to thank Oklahoma Hospice and Palliative Care Association for their exceptional and loving care.
