Shirley married the love of her life, Harry E. Nessman, on November 9, 1957. Together they raised 5 children and enjoyed 51 years together before he died on January 30, 2009.
Shirley was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the American Legion Unit 12. For many years she worked in the Putnam City Schools Food Services, but the job she was most proud of was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She adored her family and loved spending time with them. Shirley was funny, kind, considerate, strong and loving and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Charles, Carl, and Margaret.
She is survived by her children, John, Steve and wife Shelly, Mike and wife Margaret, Anna, and Eddie and wife Lorraine; 12 grandchildren, Jeff, Kiera, Tony, Chuck, Sarah, Emily, Jimmy, Chris, Kathryn, Carl, Luke, and Rachel; great grandchildren, Trenton, Logan, Eli, PaizLee, and LoreLai; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home from 4pm-6pm Thursday. Services will be 10am Friday at Bill Merritt Funeral Service with interment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
