Mary Alice Lytle was born February 8, 1926 to Harry and Myrtle Brown in Britton, Oklahoma. Mary Alice Brown-McAlister-Lytle was the youngest of 7 children. She graduated from Britton High School in 1943 and worked at Tinker Air Force Base until she married James M. McAlister on April 11, 1945. Mary was a devoted wife and mother to two children, Rick McAlister and Debbie McAlister-Cowan. Mary loved to travel and she and James went on many adventures around the U.S. They lived in Oklahoma City, The Village, Edmond, Yukon and Ft. Cobb. They eventually retired to a community in Yuma, AZ. James had a stroke
1990 and they moved back to Oklahoma to be around family. James passed in 1993. Several years later Mary remarried a long time friend, Jay Lytle, after the death of his wife. They resided in Oklahoma City and after his death she lived in a senior living community until her passing. Besides travel Mary loved playing cards and all sorts of games, puzzles and watching OU football. She was a great dancer and loved golf. She always had lots of friends and kept very busy. Mary was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Yukon for many years and always attended church when she was away. She loved the Lord and was faithful in supporting her church and charities.Mary went to her Lord and Savior on September 7, 2021. She lived a long and wonderful life of 95 years. She will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her. She is survived by son, Rick McAlister and daughter Debbie Cowan, son-in-law Don
Cowan; seven grandchildren, Shannon (Rick) McAlister, Stacie Towner, Nichole Schall, DeAubrey Johnson, Josh McAlister, Scott Cowan and Cory Cowan; 18 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 4 brothers, husband James McAlister, husband Jay Lytle, and grandson Matthew McAlister.
