He was born January 20, 1928 in San Angelo, Texas, the son of the late Rufus and Myrtle McDonald. He was the oldest of 7 siblings. He married Berniece Harold on April 4, 1981 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He served in the US Army as Corporal stationed in the Philippines in World War II. After his discharge, he was employed by Border Patrol. He started working for Singer in 1950. He started A&P Singer with Berniece in 1982, retiring in September 2009. He regularly attended church, serving as an usher, a door greeter, and various other callings. He is survived by his wife Berniece McDonald; his sister and brother-in-law Avis and Joe Riley of San Antonio, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Doris and Sid Harp of Abilene, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Cherle and Don Gordon of California; brother Joe McDonald; his son and daughter-in-law, Pete Jr. and Beverly McDonald of Rosharon, Texas and their children Mason and Nick; daughter and son-in-law Alisa and Ahmad Jamali of Yukon, Oklahoma, and their children Samad, Satar, and Sajad; son and daughter-in-law Alex and Sheryl Clay of Warr Acres, Oklahoma and their children Mikyla Leonard and James Crabtree, and their granddaughter Jenna; son and daughter-in-law Ashley and Stephanie McMillin of Yukon, Oklahoma, and their son Devin; son and daughter-in law Brandon and Jessica McDonald of Yukon, Oklahoma, and their children Spencer and Hunter. Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Myrtle McDonald; his sisters Laverne McDonald and Betty Leister; and brother R.D. “Bro” McDonald.
Viewing hours will be on Monday, May 6, 2013. Family hours will be at 10:00 am, public hours will be from 12:00 – 8:00 pm at Bill Merritt Funeral Service, 6201 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, Oklahoma 73008.
A service is being held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10:00 am at Cherokee Hills Baptist Church, 5700 NW 63rd Street, Warr Acres, Oklahoma 73132. Burial immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery.
