Morris "The Cat" Long passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Morris lived most of his life in the Oklahoma City and Edmond area but spent his high school years in Muskogee, Oklahoma where his parents, Jerry and Anita, operated a Bail Bond company.
Morris attended and graduated from Muskogee High School. During his high school years, he developed a strong interest in the Electrical field and pursued this endeavor following his graduation. Morris took the necessary courses and training to become a licensed commercial electrician and general contractor. His skill as an electrician became very apparent to anyone who called upon him to install, repair, modify, or fix any type of electrical issue.
Morris' employment history was diverse. One particular job involved working at the Oklahoma Science Museum which he especially liked because of his love of science.
His other positions included Project Manager, Job Foreman and General Contractor for a variety of business or projects including work on the Devon Tower in downtown OKC. He took great pride in his work and set a very high standard for his job performances.
Morris' hobbies were varied. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping at the lake, doing yard work, or fixing something in the garage while listening to Classic Rock music. His indoor hobbies included building computers, cooking, and watching movies or Science Fiction TV shows.
When Morris met Elaine's dad all those years ago, he knew he was accepted into the fold when he received his nickname "The Cat" or in some instances, "Gato" from Bruno. He wore that nickname with humor and pride.
Morris was preceded in death by his father, Jerry; his mother, Anita; his brother, Freddie; and his daughter, Jennifer. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 33 years, Elaine; along with his children, daughter, Crystal and sons, Brandon (Samantha) and Dylan (Becky). Morris is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Lexi, Noah, Trinity, and Raylee; and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lisa and brother, Eric; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Those who knew and loved Morris will forever miss him.
