Dr. Philip James Maguire, MD., age 90, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023. He was born May 26, 1933 in Oklahoma City to Hugh and Helen Maguire. Philip was in the first graduating class at McGuiness Catholic High School. He then went on to attend OSU where he received his bachelor’s degree and then OU where he received his master’s degree. While at OSU, he met Wilhelmina Clasby. They married on August 11, 1956 at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where Philip was a lifelong member. Together they raised their 3 children and enjoyed 67 years of love and laughter. Philip honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Medical Doctor who specialized in OB/GYN and delivered countless babies during his career, and relished retirement when he could sleep through the night. He believed in helping others and was a long-time volunteer at Little Flower Clinic. Philip and Wilhelmina enjoyed travelling; they went to Europe, Turkey, Mexico, Peru, and many others. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, birdwatching, and talking to anyone he could… no one was ever a stranger for long and would immediately become a friend of Philip’s for life. His gift of gab, his generosity, and his brilliant mind and personality will be dearly missed by all that were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his wife Wilhelmina Maguire; children, Tim Maguire (Rosa Maguire), Erin Maguire, Susan Meyer (David Meyer); grandchildren; Kelan Maguire (Amber Maguire), Ben Meyer, Joe Meyer (Honey Meyer); great grandchildren, Philip Troy Maguire, Wren Maguire.
Viewing will be 12pm-4pm Sunday August 27, 2023 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
