Teddy “Ted” Lee Bonds passed away at age 87 in Oklahoma City after a short hospitalization. He grew up in Texas and Oklahoma, graduating from Central High in 1951 and from OU in 1959 with a business degree. He met his future wife, Ramolee Roach, at the Second Methodist Church in 1946, marrying in 1956. They recently celebrated their 64th anniversary. He served in the Army, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, from 1953-1955. Following college he went to work for educational television as a broadcast engineer. He began working at Western Electric/AT&T as an electrical engineer in 1969, retiring in 1996. He was a natural problem-solver, and his profession took him to many locations across the country to diagnose and repair telephone equipment systems. His work gave him great joy and satisfaction. After retirement he became a faithful member of the OKC Engineers Club.
He enjoyed traveling, tennis, golf, snow-skiing, and backpacking. Baseball was one of his favorite sports, and he made many trips to Florida and Arizona to watch spring training. There was no challenge or project he wouldn’t tackle, including designing and building the family home and later constructing a tennis court in the backyard. He attended Metropolitan Baptist Church for many years and was a member of Faith Bible Church in Edmond at the time of his passing.
Ted was a dedicated husband and father. His sense of humor and ability to find the positive in any situation will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife Ramolee, son David, daughter Cairlyn, nephews Scott Taylor and Mark Taylor (Janis), and niece Shari Taylor. He was predeceased by his parents Clyde and Bertha Bonds, sister Ina Taylor, brother-in-law Scott Taylor, and son-in-law Paul Combs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or your favorite charity.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the physicians and staff of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital for their compassionate care.
