

On October 17, 2014, in Oklahoma City, Velma Lorene Sublette of Yukon went to be with her Lord. Lorene was born on March 13, 1938 to Toney and Laura Braisher in Colony, OK. Growing up in the Binger-Lookeba area, Lorene attended Sickles High School where she played basketball, and graduated in 1956. After graduation, she moved to the city where she went to work for Oklahoma Publishing Co, and late Beldon Electric as a bookkeeper. Lorene went on to own her own gift shop and became an interior decorator. Lorene was a giving and loving woman. As an active member of Council Road Baptist Church for the last thirty years, she never passed up an opportunity to help someone in need. She loved her children and grandchildren, attending all of their sporting events and cherishing opportunities to have them over. She especially loved family gatherings like Thanksgiving where she cooked large dinners, always making sure there was plenty to send home with everyone. Lorene is survived by husband of 47 years, Bobby Sublette and their four children, Karl Rath of Piedmont, Ray Rath of Moore, Lynn Swanda and husband Allen of Hamburg, Germany and Stacey Selby and husband Scott of Yukon. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Ray & Dustin Tate, Nick, James & Josh Swanda, Kari & Elise Rath, Spencer, Sydney & Seth Selby and five great grandchildren with two more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents Toney & Laura Braisher, siblings Delmer Gene, Wanda Harbuck and Mary Lou Welch. Lorene has two surviving brothers, Carl Braisher of Pittsburg, PA and Henry Braisher of Moore, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at Bill Merritt Funeral Services 6201 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Council Road Baptist Church 2900 North Council Road, Bethany, Oklahoma with burial immediately following at Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Council Road Baptist Missions or the 2020 Building Fund.
