Venice Louise Hazlett

Louise was born on September 10, 1933, in Chelsea, Oklahoma, to Jay C. Berry and Dollie (Flanary) Berry. Louise was the fourth of seven children. When Louise was a child her parents and siblings moved to Wichita, Kansas.

Louise married, O. M. “Bud” Hull, Jr., on November 5, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas. Louise and Bud had three sons. While living in Bakersfield, California, Bud died of a heart attack at age 38 on March 26, 1965. Louise and her three children moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she raised her children on her own. Louise later married Beryl W. Hazlett. The marriage did not last and in 1974, Louise was once again the sole parent. Now raising five sons as a single parent, Louise began working at Control Data as a data clerk, a job she enjoyed until her retirement.

Louise was devoted to her sons and instilled in them the importance of education and the strength and tenacity to work hard and fulfill their dreams. Louise always approached life with grace, determination, an appreciation for simplicity and a positive outlook. Her selflessness and devotion to her boys were among her greatest qualities.

Louise was preceded in death by her first husband, O. M. “Bud” Hull, Jr.; by her second husband, Beryl W. Hazlett; by her parents, Jay C. Berry and Dollie (Flanary) Berry; her son, Michael Lynn Hull; her brothers, Howard Berry, Bob Berry and Jimmy Berry; and her sister, Alice Berniece Wray.

Louise is survived by her four sons, Ronnie Hull and wife Christa (Palm Harbor, FL), Buddy Hull and wife Julie (Minnesott Beach, NC), Richard Hull and wife Terry (Norman, OK), and Jeffrey Scott Hazlett (Dallas, TX). Louise is survived by ten grandchildren, Roanna Eggert and Aaron Hull (Ronnie and Christa Hull); David Hull, Stephen Hull, Ryan Hull and Nicole Hull (Buddy Hull); and, Mason Hazlett, Lillian Hazlett, Megan Hazlett, and Melody Hazlett (Jeffrey Scott Hazlett). Louise is survived by three great-grandchildren, Aiden Eggert, Gavin Eggert and Hannah Hull. Louise is also survived by her brother, Donald Berry, and her sister, Beverly Reynolds, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the administrator, nursing staff, aides and caregivers and all of the employees at the Lexington Nursing Home, and all the nursing staff and employees of Valir Hospice for their constant compassionate, loving care and community provided Venice Louise Hazlett.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Bill Merritt Funeral Home at 6201 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK. Graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on September 10, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N. Kelly Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK.
