Vincent Andrew Romano, 86, of Bethany, OK went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 9th, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Vincent also known as “Vince” was born on February 17, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was the second child of Matthew Joseph Romano and Catherine Mary Romano (Reynolds). In 1970 the family was transferred to Oklahoma and resided in Bethany. Vince was a wonderful, loving father who was dearly loved and cherished by his children. He was a very easy going, laid back guy, who loved to hum around the office at work.

Dad was an avid golfer who loved playing golf at multiple golf courses around Oklahoma. His main golf course was at Lake Hefner. After dad retired in 1999, he was a Marshal and a Starter at Hefner Golf Course.

Dad worked for General Electric in Philadelphia, PA and then moved his family to Bethany, OK where he worked for Honeywell. Several mergers occurred and the company name was changed to Control Data CDC, then Magnetic Peripherals Inc. (MPI), Imprimis and Seagate. Vince was a Production Control Manager while working for MPI and at Seagate, he was an Account Manager.

Vince was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy. As dad got older his vision was not as good, and dad loved to eat at Outback. Over many years his children and grandchildren would take dad to Outback at least twice a week. Dad would always wear his Veterans hat. He loved coconut shrimp and Western movies and was quite the history buff.

While living in Philadelphia, Vince was a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. After moving to Oklahoma, he changed his affiliation with the Eagles, and strongly supported the Dallas Cowboys. Vince was a die-hard Cowboy fan.

Vince and his wife Nancy, traveled to Arizona on many occasions so Vince could play golf and get a few lessons from the pros, while mom would go shopping. It was a great getaway for both of them. Dad hit a Hole-In-One at the Cedar Valley Golf Course in Guthrie, OK. Dad enjoyed going to watch his sons play football in high school. It brought back memories of his time playing football in high school.

The family enjoyed many trips back to Pennsylvania to visit the east coast family. They would often go to Avalon in the summer, rent a home and spend the day at the beach. His children will always cherish these memories.

Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Joseph and Catherine Mary Romano (Reynolds), Nancy, his beloved wife, his brother, Matthew Romano and wife Loretta Romano, and his sister-in law Claire Romano. Vincent is survived by his six children, Vincent Romano, Joseph Romano (Christi), Joanne Travis (Charles), Matthew Romano (Lori), Steven Romano (Tammye) and Paul Romano. Vincent is survived by 12 grandchildren, Christina Charness, Ashley Romano, Jennifer Moran (Coby), Dane Romano, Ryan Romano, Joshua Romano (Christen), Rachel Romano, Daniel Romano, Marissa Charness, Jonathan Romano, Elizabeth Romano and Lacie Lykins. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, Matthew Charness, Ella Joy Romano, Addison Romano, Gabrielle Romano, Elijah Romano and Hunter Moran. Vincent is also survived by his brother Anthony (Tony), his sister, Ellen Gallina, and his brother James (Jim), and wife April.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff and Caregivers at Home Care Plus, especially Jean, Sandy and Royce. Also, the staff at Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospice, with special recognition to Ashley Willy. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Abernathy and Dr. Nguyen for their loving care and compassion for dad during his stay at Mercy Hospital, as well as Dr. Jeffrey Sabine and his nurse Jaci.

A wake will be held on Monday, January 13th at 7:00 p.m. at Bill Merritt Funeral Home in Bethany, OK. There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14th with Burial at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery immediately following.

I took care of Vincent for his last 4 years and his wife Anna for a short time before she passed. I got to know their children well, and never met a nice or more loving family. Blessings to you all.
