Wendell Leslie Powell, 81, passed away November 27, 2010. He was born March 30, 1929 in Carter, Oklahoma to William Thomas and Vida Lee (Gibson) Powell. Wendell and his wife Polly were founding members the Community of Christ Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. He and his wife were square dancers with the Swinging Rebels and also members of the RV camp club, Modern Wagoneers. He worked as a Warr Acres Police Officer and later retired from the Federal Reformatory in El Reno, Oklahoma. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 56 years, Polly Anna Powell, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by 6 children, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous other loving family members. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery. Condolences may be made at www.billmerrittfuneralservice.com.
