

William Eugene Smith, ”Gene”, 66, of Oklahoma City, passed away September, 12, 2013, at home peacefully in the presence of family from Lou Gehrig’s disease. Born and raised in Floydada, TX, Gene served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he then spent many years working as a farmer. Developing a love for motors at a very young age, he was fortunate to be able to live out his passion working on cars and spending time at the races. He loved working as a Master Mechanic on any vehicle, but most of all his pickup, “Killer”. His world revolved around his children and grandchildren, who were the center of his universe. Gene is preceded in death by his Mother, Ida Mae Smith. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, and their children, William Scott Smith, Michelle Smith McRee and spouse, Charley Wayne Lackey and spouse, and Donna Fay Jones and spouse; his grandchildren, Spencer, Britten, Stetson, Whitney, Chevy, Meaghan, Ryan, Kati, Haley, Abby, Joseph, and Cory; 2 sisters, Mary Boone and Linda Rayburn and spouse; and many nieces and nephews.Donations can be made at the funeral services to his spouse and children. Services will be held Wednesday at 2pm.
