Willie LaVerne Hudson, “Mom” went home to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday morning, June 24 about 5:45 a.m., about 10 minutes after asking for a drink of water. Wow – what a lady. She is survived by brother Robert L. Goode Jr. of Austin Texas, daughter Linda L. Lawson (Darrell) of Olathe Kansas, son Philip R. Hudson of Scottsdale Arizona, five grandchildren Mark, Michael, Tricia, Lisa and Angela and 7 great grandchildren. She was a great sports enthusiast – particularly loved the Kansas City Royals and the Oklahoma Sooners. She knew all the Royals’ names, positions and some statistics. She watched all the games. Not much needs to be said about the Sooners – just ‘once a Sooner fan always a Sooner fan’. Mother’s other passion was playing the piano – The last time she played was as recently as February before she died at 91 years of age. She was in a choir at the Nursing home and they ask her to play in a program they had. She was thrilled. She studied to be a concert pianist but Hudson, Linda and Philip came along and that was that. She played piano at church and many other functions. Mom and Dad traveled for many years in their Airstream all around the USA and loved it. That is what kept them young. They had friends that they met all over and went on many caravans. Mom was loved by many and will be missed by all. She lived 90 wonderful years and then the last year wasn’t so good. She was ready to go to a better place.
