Catherine “Joan” Cooney, 83, longtime Bethpage resident passed away August 14, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late James “Red” Cooney and is survived by her children: Deborah McDonnell, Christine (Kenny) Hawes, and James (Danielle) Cooney. Beloved grandmother of Sean McDonnell, Heather (Andrew) Coulter and proud great grandmother of Rory and Scottie.
Joan had a zest for life that was contagious. She found happiness in the simple pleasures—playing bingo, trying her luck at the slots, and gathering around the table for a good game of cards.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
