I was so saddened to hear of Gracine's passing.  Gracine was always very important to me.  When I was quite young, Gracine was a loving refuge in a world that could be cruel.  She loved and accepted me just as I was and let me know that I was fine just as I am.  This is the greatest gift that a maternal figure can give to a child and one that I was so thirsty to hear.

In our later years. I stayed in contact with Gracine and had the good fortune to visit her last October, 2024.  Despite some ill health, Gracine was as sparkling and warm and brilliant as ever.  We read together her most recent book of poetry, me all the while amazed at Gracine's eternal creative energy and wit.

Our lives go back a very long way, and Gracine will always live in my heart until the day I am no longer.  I wish her children and grandchildren comfort and I am sure they know what a phenomenal person Gracine was and will remember her with love and joy as well.  In this way, Gracine lives on.

I am deeply heartbroken by the loss of my Grandma, a truly amazing and wonderful woman. She was so much more than a grandmother to me she was a constant source of wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love. From her guidance and advice, to the way she was always there when I needed someone to lean on, she shaped my life in countless ways.

The memories we shared together are treasures I will hold close to my heart forever. Whether it was her kind words, her gentle smile, or the moments of laughter we shared, each memory is a reminder of the incredible person she was.

Grandma’s legacy lives on in the love she gave and the lessons she taught. Though she may no longer be here with us, her spirit, her strength, and her warmth will remain a part of me always. I will cherish her forever and honor her memory by carrying her love forward.

With much love we will miss our next door neighbor.  Over the last 15 years Gracie has enriched our lives with her upbeat attitude , poetry, insights about life, sharing her worldly experiences. And of course rooting for the Yankees.

Though it will be difficult to deal with losing you, we will always remember your witty humor, your upbeat positivity, your wisdom and kindness even in difficult times. You led an amazingly interesting life and lived it to the fullest. You were a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to everyone around you and I’m thankful to have had you in my life for as long as I did. 

I know you are having a great time right now, being reunited with your mom and all those waiting for you. You are no longer in pain or suffering, no longer have to deal with the never ending problems we on earth are forced to deal with… I will always love and remember you Grandma.

Gracine was a special neighbor and friend.  She was a  kind and generous lady with a good sense of humor and intelligence.  She will be missed.

Best mom and best son and grandson you could ever have.

I knew how lucky I was to have her for so long. I know there are many that don't get to have there mom live to be 89.  Let me tell you a little bit of one of the most amazing journeys.  From the lower east side. To the upper east side. My Mom Gracine Camille, Ferrara, Maccarrone, Ehrlich, Dunn. Was in my opinion the greatest mom ever, She was the greatest person I've ever known. Her story begins during tough times. Born on the lower east side in the great depression. The child of Italian mother and father Harry and Ann Maccarrone. Her father the most handsome man in NY. Her mother the most beautiful and wonderful mom and later grandma ever. Gracine grew up with love. Later she would be blessed to have brother Terry, sister rosemary, brother Harry, sister Ellen, and last but not least her baby brother Gene. Gracine would later move to queens where she graduated from Jamaica high.  then with her family to Farmingdale/Bethpage. She would get a full scholarship to Hofstra university. Where she would get a masters in English literature. It was there in her theatre class she would met Francis ford Coppola. The director of a little movie called the Godfather. He actually had meatballs in my grandmothers house in Bethpage. Gracine would go on to many amazing adventures, She then got married and raised 4 children. My brothers and sister were born in Fresh meadows. and later they moved to Huntington. That's where i was born. By the way I'm the youngest. Here are some mind blowing highlights from her life, and these are just a few. a letter from RFK from the white house, Television show Jeopardy 5 day champion, spoke 5 languages, was blessed by the pope in Italy. Had a hole in one at Bethpage black. First swing ever playing golf, Traveled the world. was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, Mom, and Grandmother. Started the first women's investment club in this country, wrote books during the pandemic in her 80s that are for sale on Amazon. I love & miss you with love Your baby boy David

Very grateful for the times I’ve spent with my grandma, she always was the voice of wisdom, reason, and most of all love. Thank you grandma for your time on this earth and for all the wonderful insight and guidance. You will be missed dearly. We love you ❤️  and may you rest in paradise.

This was last September when I was able to visit cousin Gracine while in Manhattan.
We had such a wonderful visit and considering her being on oxygen her spirits were high!  She was so excited about her new book(memoir) being published.  I’m so happy that Gary and I were able to spend that afternoon with her as we will always have that as our last memory of the fabulous Gracine💕

I would have to equate the first moment that I met Gracine to that of meeting a fabulous movie star. When they say that someone has a star quality or an air of regality about them then you would know what it felt like for me. She was so beautiful , elegant and brilliant. I think that we loved each other from the start. She was my other mother, the mother of my best friend and a lifelong confidant. She loved so strongly ,faithfully and positively. She would never allow you to think anything less of yourself and wanted all for you. If Gracine loved you then you were perfect, even if you weren't. I will miss that fabulous personality and her stories. Your relationship with Cathy was pure love and magical to witness. I am so thankful for all of our talks and beautiful memories.
