September 15, 1944 – July 29, 2025
Kathleen M. Butler, age 80, formerly of Queens, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Ballyackey, Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland, on September 15, 1944, Kathleen was the cherished daughter of the late John Nolan and Nora Bradford. She carried the spirit of Ireland in her heart throughout her life, celebrating her heritage with pride, music, travel, and tradition.
A devoted mother, Kathleen is survived by her beloved sons, Ken Butler (Jackie) of Bethpage, NY, Michael Butler (Monica) of Whitestone, NY, and Brian Butler of Kew Gardens, NY. She was the adored “Nana” to six grandchildren who lit up her life: Brittney, Brendan (Melissa), Kaitlyn, Caroline, Jack, and Chloe.
Kathleen is also lovingly remembered by her dear brother, John Nolan of Ballyackey, Tralee, and is reunited in peace with her late brothers, Andrew and Patrick Nolan.
For many years, Kathleen worked with elegance and professionalism as an administrative professional at The Pierre Hotel in Manhattan. Her warmth, poise, and meticulous sense of style left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Always dressed to the nines, with perfectly coordinated shoes, outfits, and a signature hat, she was a true fashionista through every stage of life.
Kathleen’s joys were simple and full of heart: family gatherings, delicious meals, and holidays steeped in tradition. She especially loved hosting Easter dinners with ham and Christmas feasts with leg of lamb. Summer BBQs brought her happiness, not just for the food she so enjoyed, but for the laughter and togetherness they brought. She delighted in eating out, always partial to a good buffet. Irish folk music was the soundtrack of her life, and her favorite holiday—St. Patrick’s Day—was celebrated with joy and pride.
Kathleen’s kindness, grace, and unwavering love for her family and heritage will be deeply missed by all who were lucky to know her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, New York. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Martin of Tours Church, Bethpage, NY. Final disposition will be private.
May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory continue to bring warmth and light to those she loved.
