
C. Wayne Hess of Binghamton, 91, died peacefully in his sleep on September 3, 2012 at the N.Y.S. Veterans Home at Oxford after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet and his parents, Charles & Joanna Hess. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane & Rick Brutvan and grandson, Jason and his wife Lauren, also a sister-in-law, Marion Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was a member of the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church. He enlisted in the Army in 1942. He was a 2nd Lieutenant and would have joined Patton's forces in No. Africa but for losing an eye when a gun misfired. He was also a member of the St. Marks Masonic Lodge. Wayne enjoyed many years as a salesman for Prudential Ins. After retiring he worked part-time selling insurance for Binghamton Savings Bank. In his younger years he was in many musical performances in high school. He loved to sing and dance, golfing and bowling. A Funeral Service will be held at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Eileen Sloth officiating. Burial will follow in the Chenango Valley Cemetery. Family and friends may stop at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
