

Charles H. Springer of Binghamton, 88, went to be in the arms of the Lord and reunited with his first wife, Lena and daughter, Brenda, on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from the Buffalo VA Hospital. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his son-in-law, Mark Maciak. Charles is survived by his wife, Shirlee M. Springer; children, Charlene Maciak, David & Barbara Springer of Sneades Ferry, N.C., Douglas Springer of Las Vegas, NV., 3rd son, Richard Pittsley; step-children, Marc & Tammy Daniels, Eric Daniels and Heidi & Henry Keibel; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Brown; also several in-laws, nieces and nephews. Charles was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WW II and belonged to the VFW Post 478, a long-time member of the Port Dickinson Community Baptist Church where he was Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was a retired General Contractor, also a member of the B.C. Sportsman Club and was a very avid outdoorsman. Charles was a loving and devout husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend; he will be dearly missed by many. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 12:00 PM at the Port Dickinson Community Baptist Church 743 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY 13901, with Pastor Steve Chastain officiating. Burial and military honors will follow in the Kattelville Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
