Ethel Pierson Jacobs Titchener, formerly of Syracuse and Chenango Bridge, 81, November 17, 2013, passed peacefully in her sleep in Chittenango, NY, where she had been lovingly cared for through a long illness, by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Darlene Titchener. Ethel was predeceased by her parents, Kitchel & Lillian (Seely) Pierson. In addition to her son she is also survived by her daughters, Laura (Dr. Richard) Cunningham, Lynn (Mark) Szigeti; grandchildren, Erin (Utku) Yurday and Zachary Szigeti; great grandchildren, Sinan and Serkan Yurday; brother, Raymond Pierson; sisters, Frances Pierson, Laura Sander and Joyce (Daniel) Luby; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ethel was retired from New York State where she was the Regional Director of Human Rights. Ethel was not only a very creative woman, but also passionate about genealogy and gardening. A proud member of the Thornton Art Garden Club, Syracuse Mens Garden Club and Syracuse Rose Society, she won many ribbons for her flower arrangements. Ethel was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by many. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 12 noon at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901. Interment will be in the Kattelville Cemetery at 12:30 on Saturday.
