Frank Daniel Egitto, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 6th, 2021 at the age of 68 after the tremendous gift of a bone marrow transplant gave him 14 more happy years. He was predeceased by his parents Santi and Minnie Egitto, and sister, Carmela Egitto.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Linda Egitto; his children, Daniel (Megan) Egitto, Beth (Eric) Lucas, Sarah (Brian) Connolly, Katherine Egitto, and Scott Egitto; his grandchildren, Carmella Egitto, Porter and Everett Lucas, Jack and Oliver Connolly, and Santino and David Egitto; his sister, Annette Maresca; and his goddaughter-niece Mindy (Michael) Leahey, and their daughter Emme.
Frank was born in Binghamton, NY on June 14th, 1952. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1970 as valedictorian then earned his Master’s degree from SUNY Binghamton in physics. After a brief departure from the area, he returned to Binghamton to work at IBM/EIT/I3 for over 35 years until he retired in 2017 as the Director of Research and Development.
Growing up in the 1st Ward of Binghamton, Frank developed friendships that would last his entire life. Frank has a wide circle of family and friends that are loyal and devoted and have always been there through the years. He was especially thankful for the love and support of Linda’s sisters, brother and their families.
Frank exhibited unconditional love for his wife and children. This love only grew exponentially with the arrival of his 7 grandchildren. Being a grandfather was the joy of his life. Frank could often be witnessed relishing their presence and enjoying the simple pleasure they brought to his world.
Frank’s many passions through the years included running marathons, Friday night golf league, and cheering on his kids and grandkids in sports and activities. He enjoyed traveling the world and in more recent years shorter trips with Linda or visiting the track with the Saratoga Boys.
Frank will be missed deeply and his impact on his loved ones has been immeasurable. In his own words, Frank knew he was the luckiest man in the world. He was tremendously blessed by God, and for this, he was immensely thankful.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Cyril’s and Methodius Church on Clinton St. in Binghamton, burial will follow in Knox Cemetery in Ouaquaga, NY. The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 pm.
