Harold W. “Hal” Snopek, 78 of Binghamton. Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Pop Pop passed away unexpectedly Friday March 16. He was reunited with his son Tim along with his parents Archard and Janet Snopek, Brother Paul, Sisters in Law Lucille and Maria Snopek, and several other family members. He is survived by his High School sweetheart and love of his life Donna (Fendick), daughters Tami (Frank) Carl, Tina (Ernie) Cutting, Grandchildren Sara (Lorne) Brooks, Mitchell Carl, Payton and Ernie Cutting and Great Grandchildren Audra and Arthur Brooks. Hal graduated from Chenango Forks High School where he was a multiyear letterman, setting several school records, one of which still stands today. He was inducted into the Sect. 4 NYSPHSAA Hall of Fame in 1991. Hal was a parishioner at the former St Christopher’s church where he and Donna were married 57 years ago, and is currently active at Most Holy Rosary. He was a car salesman for JW Greene for 25 years, He worked for the Town of Chenango, and served as a Town Board Member and was currently the Town Supervisor. He loved working on cars and drove stock cars at 5 Mile Point in the late 50s and early 60s. Hal later enjoyed driving around with Donna in his 1932 Chevy. He was thrilled to attend the 25th Super Bowl in Florida in 1991. He had the ability to fix anything and he would be the first one there when something needed to be done. Hal is also survived by his niece Connie Travis and nephew Amos Snopek, his brother and sisters in law Fran Chier, Len and Maxine Fendick, Dorothy and Bob Rittenburg, Dorothy Fendick, Al and Rita Fendick, Ted Fendick, Anita and Gary Haskell and Richard Fendick along with his Godchildren and many special nieces, nephews and friends. Most of all, Hal was dedicated to his family and enjoyed attending as many of his grandchildren’s activities as he could. He will be remembered for taking care of people and his sense of humor- keep your socks up! A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Most Holy Rosary Church 2596 Main St. Maine, NY 13802, burial will be in the Slovak Catholic cemetery in Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Tuesday March 20, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
