Susquehanna - Larry Cavanaugh, 63, of Susquehanna, PA passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Sunday, August 18th, 2019. He was predeceased by his grandparents Bruce and Theresa Munson, parents George and Betty Cavanaugh, and brothers in law John Stanek and Raymond (Ray) Ayres. He is survived by his loving daughters Kara (“Bee”) Cavanaugh and Stacy (“Squirt”) Cavanaugh; grandsons Austin Cavanaugh, Kingston (“Winston”) Lawrence, and Kamdyn Sayvongsak; siblings Donald Cavanaugh, Virginia Ayres, Kathleen (Ozzie) Miller, Susan Stanek (Rob), and Timothy Cavanaugh; Aunt Juanita Simcox; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Our heartfelt thanks to Ray and Chrissy Ayres along with daughters Alyssa (“Pinky), and Delaney (“Bean”) Ayres, and Shawn Cavanaugh. Larry is a graduate of Susquehanna Community High School. Larry had an extreme passion for resurrecting classic Kawasaki and Suzuki motorcycles. He was very involved in airflow technology and as he progressed his knowledge in this area, he started his own business, Cavanaugh Racing Heads. He had several pleased customers all over the world who raved about his knowledge, expertise, and quality of work. From this point he developed C&D Technologies Digital Airflow Management System - “The Blue Box”. One of the top highlights of his career was having an article published in Hot Rod Engine Tech magazine praising his Blue Box design. Larry loved spending time on the golf course, riding his custom LTD 1000, flying helicopters with his grandsons, and anything that involved family - especially barbecues in the backyard and hearing the kids play. We would like to give a special thanks to the Radiology department at Geisinger CMC and the nursing staff at Barnes Kasson Hospital. There will be a Celebration of Life in his honor on Sunday, September 1st at 2pm held at his dream garage (771 Jackson Ave Susquehanna, PA 18847). If you would like to make a donation in Larry’s honor, please send donations to your local animal shelter.
