

Johnson City: Mary (Trudy) Balin, 98, originally of Port Dickinson, died Monday, April 9,2012 at the James G. Johnston Memorial Nursing Home, Johnson City. Mary was known for her positive nature and caring spirit for family and friends. Mary was predeceased by husbands Leo Balin (1980), Maurice Rubenstein (1982), and Louis Rothman (2000); her parents, Rebecca and Samuel Berg; brother George Berg; and sister Lillian Bruhn. She is survived by devoted and loved stepson Fred Rothman; nephew Norman Rudin and wife Marion and family; niece Beverly Klein and family; nephews Randall Balin, Robert Balin, and Brian Balin and their families; nieces Debbie Horseman, Syfra Bruhn and their families; nephew Leon Kiev and wife Selma; nephew Gary Kiev and family; niece Sheila Balin; cousin Stephen Feig; cousin Selma Reese; and many additional nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as friends Gerald and Jeanne Sullivan and family, Carol Oestrich and Howard Fisher. Mary loved life and the people that shared her life. She had many friends throughout her long and happy life and brought joy to all the people that knew her. She was born in Melrose, Massachusetts. For many years, she worked at McLeans Department Store. She served as the president of the Beth David Synagogue Sisterhood and president of the Senior Friendship Club at the Jewish Community Center. Funeral services will be held at the family plot at Beth David Cemetery in Conkiln, NY on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are by James V.
