Rebecca L. Mercik, 19, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. She was predeceased by her grandad, James E. Mercik, Sr. She is survived by her loving parents, Jim and Amy; her twin sister, Abby; brother, Gavin; her dogs, Lily & Opal; Grandma Judy, Grandma Iris; Grandpa John; Aunt Leann & Uncle Anthony; Uncle Joe & Aunt Sarah; cousins Olivia, Luke, Harleigh, and Marcus; her boyfriend, Jon, and many family friends.
Rebecca was a 2020 graduate of the Chenango Valley High School and a sophomore at SUNY Broome, studying Liberal Arts and Sciences with plans to further her education in BioChemistry and work in that field. Starting at the age of three, Rebecca found the love of dance. She danced for the Dance Connection and was most recently a proud member of the American Tap Company. She truly enjoyed her job as a Sandwich Artist at the Subway on Upper Front Street. As an organ donor, Rebecca’s life will continue on. She will continue to spread sunshine, hope, and a sense of happiness through her gifts. Rebecca had a quirky sense of humor, a deep love for the color pink, and a unique, silly, and one-of-a-kind personality. She loved all things rainbow and the only way things were right in the world is to be in color order.
The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 9-11am. A Funeral Service will follow at the Ogden Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 1061 Chenango Street, Binghamton, NY at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to the Rebecca Mercik Scholarship, Visions FCU, 24 McKinley Ave, Endicott, NY 13760. C/o: Member Operations. Payable to: The Rebecca Mercik Scholarship.
