Robert L. Verbryck
September 16, 1937 – July 7, 2018
Robert L (Bob) Verbryck, 80, of Vestal, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 7, 2018. He was predeceased by his parents Lleta and Mark Verbryck, his first wife Carol Hultslander, son Robert L. Verbryck Jr. and grandson Jacob Holden. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judith Verbryck, his three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Chris Mann, Amy and Derrick Burford and Sarah and Ralph Holden. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Clyde and Mary Therese Ver Bryck and sister-in-law Ginny Hanrahan. Surviving “Poppy”/”Grandpa Bob” are his nine wonderful grandchildren, Steve and Billy Mann, Shelby, Rachael, Sydney and Jack Burford and Hannah, Ashton and Tristan Holden. In addition, Bob also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, especially Jarol Lake whom he considered another daughter. Bob graduated from Johnson City High School and Mohawk Valley Technical Institute and served in the U.S Army in Germany with an honorable discharge. He worked for Ozalid, Division of Photo Reproduction Group and IBM Glendale Campus, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and was known affectionately to his co-workers as “Verb”. During retirement he enjoyed chauffeuring and lunching with “the doll ladies” for his “Mrs.V”, delivering flowers for Woodfern Florist and countless hours watching his grandkids. Bob and Judy’s love and devotion to each other carried them through, even when facing life’s many challenges. Bob was a man of few words, but those spoken carried heavy meaning. He never failed to send you off with a “Take care” and a “Drive Safe”. He had an incredibly sharp mind and his subtle, dry humor and wit would catch you by surprise. He loved a nice cold beer and was a true connoisseur of the best cheese burger! He thoroughly enjoyed his favorite snacks including popcorn, peanuts and oreos, lovingly named “Poppy cookies” by his grandkids. Throughout his 25 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease, you rarely heard him complain. He was a remarkably strong person who could power through with humor. The family wishes to thank The Homesteads for their care of Bob over the last several years. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to The Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, Fl 33131. Tel - 800-473-4636. Those wishing to honor Bob may also join us for Moving Day (Parkinson Walk) Saturday, September 22, 2018 in Buffalo, New York. You will forever be missed. Take care and drive safe on your eternal journey. Robert L. Verbryck
