Albert F Thomasson passed away on December 7, 2019 surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born in Mobile, AL and grew up in Montgomery where he was Salutatorian of Sidney Lanier High School. He graduated from Cornell University where he rowed crew, studied Engineering Physics and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and held the codes on nuclear submarines. He married the love of his life Sandy Jones 53 years ago and they settled in Birmingham to raise a family. He was an avid golfer and loved his golf group the Matthews Marauders. He also played tennis, the piano, loved to fly and ride his Harley. He was an entrepreneur and enjoyed exploring new endeavors and learning about new industries such as real estate development and oil and gas. His humor, sparkle, piano playing at Mountain Brook Club and genuine optimism will be missed by all that knew him. He was a long-time board member of the Parkinson's Association of Alabama and worked to fund research at UAB. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Isabelle Thomasson, and his brother, Burgess Thomasson. He is survived by his wife Sandy Thomasson, two children Leigh (Lawson) Brown of Venice, CA and Dan (Carey) Thomasson of Birmingham, AL and his grandchildren Isabelle, Maggie, Flynn and Hollis. Services will be held at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church at 11am on Tuesday, December 10th. There will be no visitation prior to the service. The family would like to thank Dr Jay Whatley of Camellia Medical Group and the caregivers that helped him to live life to the fullest. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Parkinson's Association of Alabama or the charity of your choice.
