I met Al in the early 70's. Worked for him some over the years. When you were around him, there was never a lack of entertainment. Al, I will miss you.

Al, I miss you!  Thank you for the life's lessons we shared over the years. I will try your Spanish Rice recipe one day soon. I'm sure you'll be watching every move I make. Help me get it right!  RIP!

I have known Alex since High school in Bessemer.We were no close for many year,but rekindled our friendship when we planed our 50 class reunion. He was a good friend and I miss him already.

Friend,classmate,and just a great guy.....have know Alex as we called him in highschool since 1950,,,,,,,,renenber hanging out at the Merrygoround, the cafe his parents bought just a block from my house when we were in high school...Alex was really the manager, this was after he worked at Puros...alot of good times there....have photos of Alex and myself with other classmates hanging out there....later in life when he owned a nite club he hired my son's band to play there for many years....rest in peace, Alex. I met Al in the 70's and have known him since that time. When Lou was alive we could occasionally be a force, out on the town, to be dealt with and some of our breakfasts at Connies were epic. My time with Al and visits to his home will always be remembered. I am honored and humbled having known him. I'm sure gonna miss his yard sales.

Had many good times at Al's Crossroads. In the 70's when I was young. I know you lived a good life.  RIP to a good man Condolences to the family.

Al, always the same! He could be mad and yet turn to the next person he saw and smile and make them feel welcome and make their day better! His dry wit and way of dealing with the public made him an icon in this city! He was missed when he retired, but will be missed now by so many family, friends, and business associates!

Some of my fondest memories are of times spent with friends at Al's Cabaret in in the '70s. Thanks Al. Rest in Peace.

Al was such a pleasant man. I met him years ago. My condolences to his family and friends.

I had the privilege of meeting Al 10 years ago at one of his businesses in the Lakeview area. He always had time to chat with me no matter how busy he was. I will miss you Al and thank you for all you did for our community.

I was very Blessed to know such a good man like Al and enjoyed his friendship very much. He was a really nice person and he will be missed.

Al, you were a good friend and confidant and one of my favorite customers @ CVS. You will be greatly missed! Prayers to your loved ones and my deepest sympathy!

Al and I were married on 21 November 1956.  In 1957 we bought Ramona's Café in Old Town San Diego, and worked together 7 days a week.  Our business grew so much that our landlady Mrs. Parmenter built a dining room onto the side of the café, so that we could seat more people.  We had customers waiting in line to get a seat for lunch.  I look back on these days that I had with Al and remember him fondly.  We built something great together.  I knew that he would be a success with any endeavor that he undertook.  You will be sorely missed Al.

I only got to meet you a couple of times during my marriage to your son mike but I enjoyed knowing you.    Cindi grey

I met Al back in 1966 when I lived in Columbus, MS and later moved to Birmingham remaining friends even after leaving there in 1987. When I got a chance to go up after that, I tried to keep in touch and have lunch or stop by. Telling him I had a stoke two months ago and finding he had been in the hospital himself, I was shocked and saddened to learn of his untimely death. May he R.I.P.
