

Barry Porter Isenberg, 84, a native of Birmingham, AL, passed away at his home in Murphy, NC, on June 8, 2023. Barry was born in Birmingham and was a proud graduate of Ramsay High School and Birmingham-Southern College. After graduating from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, Barry served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. Barry returned to Birmingham and spent several years in private practice before he dedicated himself to teaching others as a professor at the UAB School of Dentistry, where he spent almost 30 years and earned the title of Professor Emeritus. He was preceded in death by his father Daniel Isenberg, his mother Minnie Isenberg, and his loving wife of 25 years, Mary Spence Isenberg. Barry was fortunate to spend the last 10 years of his life with his loving wife Mary Ann Isenberg, who was a gift not only to Barry, but to the entire Isenberg family. Barry and Mary Ann spent their time traveling and enjoying their homes in Birmingham, Murphy, and Punta Gorda, FL. Barry is survived by his wife Mary Ann; his sister Janice Blumenfeld (Mike); sons Joel Isenberg (John) and Jason Isenberg (Jane); stepdaughters Ashley Arthur (Fred) and Haden Ridelhoover (Ben); grandchildren Avery, Davis, Mary Katherine, Mac, and Nolen; and many other family and friends. Graveside services will be held in Birmingham, Alabama at Elmwood Cemetery on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Shiva visitation for friends and family will be held in Abroms Hall at Temple Emanu-El (2100 Highland Avenue South) immediately following.
