Barton Marshall Leaf

Barton Marshall Leaf, 83, passed away on January 10, 2021 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Barton was a lifelong resident of Birmingham, born on November 23, 1937 to Samuel and Sybil Leaf. He was an only child who enjoyed a close relationship with his first cousins. Barton and his family were members of Temple Emanu-El synagogue in Birmingham.
After attending Mountain Brook School (later Mountain Brook Elementary) and graduating from Shades Valley High School, Barton attended Howard College (later Samford University), graduating with a degree in business. After graduation, he joined his father in the insurance industry. He met his wife, Priscilla, and they married in 1971. Barton then began a new career, enrolling in the School of Pharmacy at Samford University. He graduated in 1975 and spent nearly 30 years as a pharmacist, including 20 years as the owner of an independent pharmacy in Shelby County. He was a devoted fan of the national champion University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team and was previously a booster for the UAB Blazers basketball team.
Barton is survived by his wife, Priscilla; his son, Brian (Deborah), of Reston, Virginia; his daughter, Heather, of Culpeper, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah.
Barton will be buried on January 14, 2021 in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
