

Beulah Pittman Teague, age 91, of Birmingham, AL died Dec. 10, 2011. She was born at Wilbeth Plantation in Marked Tree, Ark. on Aug. 25, 1920. Beulah was in the special class at Lakeview School, attended Ward Belmont, Sacred Heart Academy, Birmingham-Southern College, and was a member of the Civiettes Club. She initiated the Pocket Parks and the nationally recognized Work-A-Teen Program, and was involved with the Alabama Food Bank. She received an Award of Excellence for her work with families of patients in the CCU at UAB. Mrs. Teague loved fine art, classical music, cooking, the Opera, and was a consummate reader. She was a very patriotic lady who was an active member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of 1812, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, and was a Dame of the Magna Charta Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert Sterling Teague and parents, John D. and Tellie Chism Pittman. She is survived by her sons, Brad Shea (Ruth) and Richard Shea (Anna); daughters, Catherine Shea Hare (Bill) and Jane Shea Oliver (John); step-son, John Young (Barbara); grandchildren, Robert Young (Shelly), Bradford Shea (Bettie), Michael Hare (Jill), Richard Shea (Beth), Laura Labreque (John), Bill Shea (Julie) and Stephen Shea (Bethany); great-grandchildren, Courtney Shea, Caroline Shea, Hope Shea, Adam Shea, Sophie Hare, Will Hare, Anna Kate Shea, Louie Labrecque, William Shea, Molly Shea, and Charlie Shea; and sister, Maryon Pittman Allen. She was a devout catholic, who continued to study in order to better understand the mysteries of her faith. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Cathedral, with a reception following the service. Father Richard Donohoe will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Paul's Cathedral Restoration Fund or Odyssey Hospice.
