Charles Hubert Boone Jr, age 77 passed away August 12, 2017. He was a native of Birmingham and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. He was a founding member of Saint Catherine's Episcopal Church in Chelsea. He worked for the City of Birmingham and proudly served his country in the Air National Guard. Mr. Boone married Lula Rose Smith in 1967 and they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary shortly before her death. He later remarried and went on to enjoy many happy years living on Lay Lake with his second wife. He was preceded in death by both wives; Lula Rose Smith in 1997 and Donna Grice in 2010. He is survived by his daughter; Joanna Elizabeth Boone of New York, New York. A memorial service will be held at Saint Catherine's Episcopal Church, Chelsea, Alabama on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. with The Rev. Eric Mancil, officiating. A reception will follow in the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Catherine's Episcopal Church, 4163 County Road 39, Chelsea, AL 35043.
