Pell City, AL-Cynthia A. K. Bessette passed away unexpectedly April 13, 2021 at The Village at Cook Springs. She was born on December 3, 1940, in Acushnet, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alexander J. King, Sr. and Maryanne (Fall) King. Cynthia graduated from Holy Family High School,New Bedford, MA,
Class of 1957. Following graduation, she attended and graduated from Bridgewater State Teacher’s
College, Class of 1961. She received her Master’s in Education from the University of Southern California, Class of 1968. She was an Educator for over 40 years.
She was involved with the Charitable Crafting Club, Knit one, Laugh two, in Leeds, AL. She enjoyed
knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was married to Robert E. Bessette on July 6, 1963. They celebrated 42 years of Marriage.
She supported her husband as an Army Wife for over 30 years. They traveled extensively throughout the Orient, Europe and the United States. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Philllip Devlin, her husband, Robert E. Bessette, and her brother Alexander J. King, Jr.
She is survived by three daughters and a son: Corinne Krystine (Bessette) Devlin and her husband, Karl M.H. Devlin, Sr., their two sons, Karl, Jr. and Paul E.; Roxanne Erika (Bessette) Mitchell, her husband Joel W. Mitchell and their four Children: Robert, Arie, James and Thomas; Michelle Anne(Bessette) Guschke and Michael L. Guschke; Jerauld A. Bessette and Holly Miller-Jones and their
daughter, Thea S.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, April 27th from 6-8pm at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 8101 3rd Ave Leeds, AL, with a rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 28th at noon at St.
Theresa’s Catholic Church Leeds, AL. Funeral Burial will be at Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery at noon on April 29th, limited to 25 people.
