Daniel William Deloney, Jr., 62, died on June 23, 2022 at University Hospital in Birmingham, Al. from complications following heart surgery. He was born May 4, 1960 in LaFollette, Tn. the son of Daniel William Deloney and Ann Moore Deloney.
Dan grew up in Ozark, Al. and was a 1978 graduate of Carroll High School. Following high school, he attended Auburn University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He graduated from Auburn in 1982 with a BS in Building Science. Dan worked in the Atlanta area for several years before moving to Montgomery where he began working for Rice Banking Company, eventually becoming a co-owner with his brothers. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Montgomery, Al. where he was a member of the broadcast media team and taught 1st grade Sunday School. Dan had a heart for missions and went on numerous mission trips to Cuba, Malawi, Kenya, Mexico, and Guatemala. He was able to use his building skills on trips to the gulf coast to help rebuild after hurricane Katrina.
In addition to his grandparents, Dan was predeceased by his father and one sister, Cindy Deloney. He is survived by his mother, his sister, Barbara (Tom) Lewis, and brothers, David (Joy) Deloney and George (Rachel) Deloney. He is also survived by his much loved nieces and nephews, Devin Holt, Seth Deloney, Katy Deloney, Henry Mac Deloney, Josh Sachar, Laura Lewis, and Rachel Lewis.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 in the afternoon on Sunday, July 24th at First Baptist Church, 305 South Perry St., Montgomery, Alabama. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Bethea and the Rev. Jay Wolf. Honorary Pallbearers are Robby Lincoln, Jody Richardson, Josh Sachar, Seth Deloney, Johnny Wellbaum, David Deloney, Tommy Rosser, Troy Rosser and Tracy Rosser. Interment will be held privately in Ozark, Al. at a later date. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dan’s memory to the Humane Shelter or to First Baptist Church’s International Mission Fund or Caring Center.
