David Lee Kirk Sr.

December 13, 1925 - March 25, 2018

Mr. David Lee Kirk Sr. of Vestavia Hills, AL, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the age of 92.

Dave was born to Larry and Myrtle Grider Kirk on December 13, 1925 in Fackler, AL. He attended Phillips High School and Auburn University. He entered World War II and served in the United States Navy and served in the European theater. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he went on to work at Eastern Airlines as an air traffic controller and later retired from the L.M. Berry Co. [Yellow Pages advertising].

Dave married Doris Jones in 1946, and were parents to three children. He was active with the Zamora Shriners and was a Mason.

Dave is survived by his son, David L. Kirk Jr. [Kathy]; three grandchildren; Tyler, Walker and Sydney. He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris E. Kirk; his daughters, Lynn and Leigh; his parents, Larry and Myrtle; his grandson, Hunter Jackson Kirk.

The family would like to thank Caring Companions, who gently watched over Dave the last few years.

A memorial service to take place at Johns-Ridout’s Funeral Home, 2116 university Blvd, Birmingham, AL. on March 31, 2018 at 11 am, visitation following.

The interment to take place at Alabama National Veterans Cemetery during a family ceremony on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11 am.
