Donald Earl Melof
January 13, 1940 – February 28, 2023

Donald Earl Melof, 83, died on February 28, at home in Birmingham. Don was born on January 13, 1940 and graduated from John Carroll High School in 1956. He attended St. Bernard College and Birmingham-Southern College.
After living in St. Louis, New York, Philadelphia and Miami,
Don returned to Birmingham where he lived for the past 23 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Velma and Easton Melof and his wife, Mary Harb Melof.
He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Renee Melof of Portland, Oregon, his son, Bruce Allen Melof of Birmingham and his sisters, Sandy Melof of Birmingham and Cheryl Melof Dyer of Laurel, Maryland.
Don was a designer of women’s shoes for over 40 years and traveled the world in this capacity but his interests were much wider than fashion. He was a connoisseur of fine wine, good food and loved the music of Elvis Presley. He was a generous host and devoted gardener.
The family would like to thank his best friend, Pam Blalock, for her devoted and loving care of Don.
We would also like to thank Ernie Dease and Kenneth Ross for their outstanding and energetic help in caring for Don.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. followed by service at 2:00 p.m. at John’s-Ridout’s Southside, 2116 University Boulevard, Birmingham 35233 on Sunday March 5, 2023.
