

Mrs. Elizabeth (Betsy) Carter Lipford Delionback died peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Mrs. Delionback was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she spent her formative years. Upon graduation from the St. Mary's School for girls, she attended St. Mary's Junior College in Raleigh, North Carolina. After marriage and a short time on the coast of South Carolina, she and her family lived in southeast Florida for many years before the desire to be close to beloved grandchildren brought her and her husband to Birmingham, Alabama. She enjoyed many friendships and opportunities in Birmingham through her PEO group, Fisherman's Sunday School Class at Bluff Park United Methodist Church, her grandchildren's schools, bridge groups, and others. She demonstrated concern and care for others through her thoughtful actions each day.
Mrs. Delionback is survived by her daughter, Dr. Elizabeth D. Ennis (Dr. David M. Ennis), and her grandchildren Ian Ennis, Carter Ennis, and Katherine Ennis, as well as her sister, Nancy Purcell Lipford Law. Her husband, Christian Foy Delionback and son, Daniel Herbert Delionback, preceded her in death.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm with a memorial service to follow, at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Avenue SW, Birmingham, AL 35211. The family would like to recognize and express gratitude to Ms. Trisha Garner, Mrs. Delionback's companion during the last years of her life. In lieu of flowers, if so moved, the family requests that donations be made to: Glenwood United Methodist Church at 4030 Philpott Road, South Boston, VA 24592.
