Jeanette and the work of her life made a difference in the lives of many and the reason why her extended Family is so considerable and will endure for many more, aye, countless generations. Jeanette reminded us to embrace our past though as prologue of a bright future in an ever changing world.  By honoring Jeanette Swanson's memory we affirm the best that we are and can be.
  
In June Jeanette's ashes will find a final resting place in Barren River Lake in Glasgow, Kentucky where they will mingle with Hägar for an eternity.  They will both reign once more on the occasion of the 27th annual Glasgow, Kentucky Highland Games and all the games that follow – wherever their venue.  Barren River is a fitting resting place for Jeanette who leaves us inspired, refreshed and motived.

So as Lady Betty Sinclair once wrote as a tribute to Jeanette, ”To Helga, the fairest of the fair - to the Viking Queen that we love most, to Jeanette, a big Viking Skol!”
 
We say, well done and sleep well, our Queen.

The Glasgow Highland Games has been blessed to have been touched by the Swanson family over the years...Robert's loss was a sudden shock to all, now that Jeanette has passed due to her illness, our hearts are even heavier with sadness...Jeanette was a fine lady and a wonderful person, we will miss her greatly...though both Jeanette and Robert are both gone now, they will not be forgotten, God has brought Hagar's Queen home...may God bless...Gene A. As a part of the Glasgow Highland Games family, I send my condolences to the friends and family of Jeanette. She and her husband helped create the great tradition of celebrating our Scottish heritage in Glasgow, Kentucky! God bless!

I was so very blessed to have known Jeannette for many years.She was a great friend. I met her when she and her husband Robert "aka Hagar" Swanson  first graced our Glasgow Highland Games. I am so very saddened at our loss, I will miss her friendship, kindness, graciousness and her amazing smile. I know "Hagar" was awating her in Valhalla along with our other Raknar family. How fortunate we were to have known Jeanette.  Our Scottish family was blessed by her wit and wisdom.  She was a true Southern Belle in plaid.

We were so blessed to know Jeanette and Hagar.  We miss them both but they are together again and we find comfort in that.
