BEARDEN, JOE ALLEN Long-time Roebuck-Huffman native, Joe Allen Bearden, our beloved "Granddaddy", went to be with the LORD on Thursday, October 28, 2010. He was 88 years of age. Born on December 14, 1921, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Vann Bearden, and three children, Karen Bearden Russell, Robert Allen Bearden and Kathy Bearden. He is survived by his grandchildren, Kristi Russell Smith (Jeff), Kelly Russell McMurry (Hugh), Barry Russell (Wendy), Vann Russell (Carla), Amie Bearden Stamba (Joey), and Keith Bearden. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren. He will largely be remembered for his many years of service and dedication to his church, Huffman United Methodist, where he took great pride in having been the longest-standing member. He was a United States Army World War II Veteran; serving in the 41st Infantry Division, and for some forty years devoted his career to working at the Southern Railroad, Norris Yard. But most importantly, he was our "Granddaddy", spending his days showing us how to live and love. We will honor his memory on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Huffman United Methodist Church at 12:00 P.M. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the church. Ridout's Roebuck Chapel directing. Arrangements under the direction of Ridout's-Brown-Service Roebuck Chapel, Birmingham, AL.
