Johnson "Jeb" Bercher III
November 13, 1940 – August 21, 2019
Johnson “Jeb” Bercher was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 13, 1940 and passed away on August 21, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judith Bercher, daughters, Karen Moore, Kelly Moreno, and Kendall Mailloux, sons, Kylie Bercher, Clark Perkins, and Thomas Perkins as well as a host of rescue animals he and Judith cared for. Jeb served as a security and canine police officer in the US Air Force from 1958 until 1979. After which, he dabbled in many things from working at a funeral home, managing the Tower’s of America Restaurant in San Antonio, Texas, and finally retiring from the US Postal Service. He had a way with animals and a way with people. He was always quite the character, making people laugh, whether he was telling jokes or playing the part of the Shriner Clown to entertain. He was an incredibly positive person who made time for others, always willing to lend a hand to help out or offer a shoulder to lean on. A Celebration of Life to honor Jeb will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Johns-Ridout’s Funeral Parlors 2116 University Bvd Birmingham, AL 35233. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society, ASPCA, or animal rescue shelter of your choice.
