Mrs. Josephine Verdu, age 92 of Vestavia Hills died April 30, 2016. Mrs. Verdu is survived by her son, Pedro Verdu and daughter-in-law, Paula Cisco Verdu of Mountain Brook. She is also survived by her two sisters, Pascuala Tomas of New Britain, CT and Rosita Tomas of Benichembla, Alicante, Spain; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jose and son Jack Verdu. Mrs. Verdu was born in New Britian, CT, the daughter of Pascual Tomas and Joaquina Vaquer de Tomas. When she was two her family moved to Spain where she was raised and married Jose Verdu. She resided there until 1949 when she returned to New Britain. In 1995 she moved to Birmingham to be closer to her family. Visitation will be held from 9-10 am with a Funeral Mass at 10 am Thursday May 5, 2016 at The Cathedral of St. Paul. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Cathedral of St. Paul Ministry to the Elderly.
