On July 13, 2023, Kathryn Gaynor Anderson Porter passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born March 16, 1960 to Annette Thornton Anderson and John Franklin Anderson. Gaynor attended Highlands Day School, Mountain Brook High School, and graduated from Southern Methodist University where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was a member of The Birmingham Junior League, the Country Club of Birmingham, and was active with the United Way
After graduating SMU, Gaynor spent the majority of her professional career in the software industry. She began her career at Dyatron, then worked for both Sungard and Command Data.
Gaynor enjoyed, and always kept priority, her friends. She remained close to many people she met from elementary school through college. She was always on the go with them, whether it was traveling somewhere internationally, snow skiing, or her favorite, a beach trip to the Gulf Coast. A margarita was always the order. She loved the outdoors and it was not uncommon to see Gaynor enjoying herself at outdoor concerts, wine festivals, or a crawfish boil. She had quick sense of humor and loved a good joke. She was always welcoming, loved to have fun, and was a pleasure to be around. In recent years, she will be remembered for her strength, good nature, and perseverance.
Gaynor is predeceased by her parents, John Franklin Anderson and Annette Thornton Anderson. She is survived by her brother Edward Thornton Anderson (Blair), and her sister Virginia Littleton Anderson Stone (Tim). She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Mary Winslow Anderson, Edward Thornton Anderson, Jr., Anderson Ellis Stone, and Grace Littleton Stone.
Pallbearers are Edward Thornton Anderson, Jr., Anderson Ellis Stone, Sam Marks Boykin III, John Slade Screven, Edward Franklin Screven, and James Odingsell Screven, III.
A special thanks to Paulette Clayton and Ann Moore for their many years of help, love and friendship.
