Marydean Westbrook Cantrell

Marydean Westbrook Cantrell died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Kirkwood by the River. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Dick) Cantrell. They were married for 53 years. She was a devoted wife and mother and adored her grandchildren. She lived her entire life in Birmingham. She graduated from Phillips High School and attended Birmingham-Southern College.

She is survived by a son, David of Tuscaloosa, and a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Carole of Tucson; two grandsons and their wives, Benjamin and Brandi, and Matthew and Amanda; ten great-grandchildren, all of Huntsville; and a dear cousin, Mrs. Dorothy Henderson of Athens. Mrs. Cantrell was 85 years old.

For many years, she was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, to which donations may be sent in her memory. Visitation will be at Johns-Ridout's Funeral Parlor on University Blvd. from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday. A graveside service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at 2 p.m. with Rev. Frank Barker officiating.
