
PARR, MILTON EUGENE (GENE), age 90, born on May 21, 1920 passed away on November 21, 2010 in Franklin, TN. He retired many years ago from the Postal Service as a letter carrier. He had been a resident of NHC Place in Franklin since Dec. 2008 after suffering with a stroke and Alzheimer's. He was born near Keener, AL and lived in Birmingham most of his life. Milton was a WWII veteran serving with the Army in N. Africa, Sicily and Italy. A lifetime member and past Commander of American Legion Post 171 in East Lake and a former member of Lake Highlands and St. John's United Methodist Church, Epworth UMC in Franklin, Elks Lodge #79, and the Squires Club of the Birmingham Council of Clubs. Survived by his wife of 64 years, LaVergne. Preceded in death by one son Ronald (Ron) Eugene Parr, (Viet Nam in 1968). Survived also by one daughter Carolyn of Istanbul, Turkey, one son, Wayne (Vicki) of Franklin, TN. Four grandchildren, Wayne Alan Parr of Vienna, VA, Teresa Parr of Charlotte, NC, Zach Parr of Franklin, TN, Joanne Mauricio of Sugar Hill, GA and two great grandchildren Anthony and Elena Mauricio. Visitation will be 9-11 am on Friday, November 26 at Ridout's Roebuck Chapel, with funeral at 11 am. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in the Garden of Prayer.
