

Nirmal Singh Gill, age 66, of Tuscaloosa, died Nov. 3, 2012, at home. Services will be 12 noon Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Johns-Ridouts Funeral Parlors, 2116 University Blvd., Birmingham, AL 35233, with Mr. Amrik Singh officiating.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ms. Kartar Kaur, and his father, Mr. Arjan Singh.
Survivors include his wife, Davinder Singh Gill of Tuscaloosa; his daughter, Puneet Singh Gill of Tuscaloosa; his son, Aneel Singh Gill of Atlanta, Ga.; his sisters, Mrs. Nasib Kaur and Mrs. Nirmal Kaur, both of India; and his brothers, Mr. Balbir Singh and Mr. Gurbaksh Singh, both of India.
Nirmal Singh Gill was born and raised in Jinger Kalan, Punjab, India. He obtained a Masters of Economics from Punjab University. He later immigrated to the United States in 1972. He married Davinder Gill in 1977 and then attended the University of West Alabama and completed a Masters of Special Education. He worked at Partlow Developmental Center for 22 years as Case Manager, Investigator, and Training Coordinator. At present, he was working in Decatur, Ala. as an Administrator. Nirmal Singh Gill helped to establish the Sikh Temple of Alabama in Bessemer, Ala. and was the President for the past three years.
