Phil Gross passed away on December 12, 2020 at 8:30 AM. Phil was born to Abe & Sarah Gross September 6, 1927 in Chicago Illinois. At a young age the family moved to Nashville Tennessee. He lived there until his marriage and relocated to Haleyville Al where he owned and operated Lyons Department Store. He became a part of the community and made many lasting relationships. In the sixties he decided to invest in the restaurant business and opened the. Bonanza Sirloin Pits eventually owning the state franchise. This was particularly important in Birmingham Al because it was one of the first restaurants where all races would come together. Phil relocated to Birmingham and lived there until his death. Phil leaves behind his wife of 35 years , Deborah and 4 children. Barry (Sharon), Steve, Michael, and Lisa (Walter), 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be graveside Monday, December 14, 2020 at 3:30 pm. Strict compliance with Covid precautions will be observed.
